Today we tackle the Colorado Rocky Mountains!
We’ll climb two major summits and pass through four tunnels as we travel eastbound on Interstate 70 as we continue our journey to Missouri.
The longest of the four tunnels is the Eisenhower–Edwin C. Johnson Memorial Tunnel.
The Eisenhower tunnel is one of the highest vehicular tunnels in the world. It’s the longest mountain tunnel (1.7 miles long) and highest point (11,158′ elevation) on the US Interstate Highway System.
This map shows the route for this load of onion flakes, from Firebaugh, California where we picked it up, and each end-of-day stops over the next several days until we make delivery in Independence, Missouri:
