Today’s Journey
I want to talk about panhandlers at truck stops, but first a little about today’s journey.
We’re starting out at the Flying J Travel Center near Lodi, California today as we work our way north to Tacoma, Washington to make delvery late tomorrow night.
Actually, it’ll be during the wee hours of the following morning!
Panhandlers at Truck Stops
I’m going to rant a bit today about panhandlers that seem to congregate at almost every truck stop I’ve ever been to.
It seems like there’s always someone who’s sitting at a truck stop or wandering through the parking area asking for money!
On occasion, I’ve given money to someone who appeared sincere.
But, are they really out of gas and money through no fault of their own, or do they just expect the rest of us to cover their travel expenses?
I’ve been in jams before myself; mostly due to poor judgement or planning on my part.
Each time, I’ve been helped by others; sometimes by complete strangers.
Is this just a scam, though?
Northern California Scenery
We’ll see some great scenery in Northern California as we cross over Shasta Lake a couple of times, get just a glimpse of Castle Crag and Mt Shasta.
